QM says Bonjour to EDL 2011!
On Friday 23rd September and Monday the 26th September Queen Margaret’s School, Escrick, celebrates the Council of Europe’s Eleventh European Day of Languages with a wide range of activities aimed at broadening pupils’ appreciation of the importance of learning languages.
A presentation of sport and languages by sixth formers Octavia Cobb and Elisa Hargreaves in Assembly on Friday kick started the celebration of languages. Octavia currently studying French and Spanish at A Level and Elisa French and German, they addressed the school on Friday morning explaining why it is important, interesting and fun to learn a foreign language and encouraging staff and students alike to take time to say ‘hello’ in a different language throughout Friday and Monday.
