A2 French and History of Art Students travel to London

On Thursday 17th March the Upper Sixth History of Art and French groups set off down to London to visit the National Gallery and the Courtauld gallery. As some of you may know both galleries are home to some world famous paintings by artists such as Titian, Van Gogh and Monet, as well as more that we have studied in class. The French girls went down predominantly to look at work by Cezanne, who they are studying for their A Level, the speaker showed us Cezanne's techniques through other artists, which was very beneficial. I’m sure that I can speak on behalf of everyone that it was a really worthwhile trip as we all know that seeing a painting ‘in the flesh’ is ten times better than on a computer. At the Courtauld we were lucky enough to have a talk in English – and French – about some of the impressionist paintings in the gallery that was thoroughly enjoyable as well as very useful.
