Year III find out at The National Coal Mining Museum

Half of Year III went to the National Coal Mining Museum on Tuesday 17th May and had a great day investigating what is in mine water. In the morning the group took part in a workshop entitled "What's in our water?" where they analysed the mine water before and after it has been treated by the reed beds at the museum. They were complimented for their enthusiasm by the Museum's Education Officer, Stuart Berry, and by Dr Jeremy Hopwood from the University of Huddersfield who ran the workshop.  After lunch the girls headed underground for a tour of the mine. A great day was had by all and many thanks go to the Chemsitry Department for running the trip.
