Year II come 4th in Physics Olympiad

On Wednesday 22nd June a team of four Year II students, Zoe Dick, Elizabeth Hill, Mamie Kirk and Alexandra Mather, travelled to St. Peter's School to take part in the annual Physics Olympiad. Competing against 31 other schools from across the North of England, the girls had to take part in a series of physics challenges from estimating how long it would take a car to circumnavigate the Milky Way to building a tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows strong enough to support a creme egg. The challenges also included building a balloon powered car to complete a track in the shortest time and constructing a floating platform to hold as many marbles as possible without sinking (pictured above). The team enjoyed the day greatly and finished an impressive 4th overall, the highest ranking a QM team has achieved in the history of attending the competition. Many congratulations go to Zoe, Elizabeth, Mamie and Alexandra for doing so well.
