Year IV at The Institute of Physics Lecture
15/10/2010
On Tuesday 5th October Year IV visited St Peter's School for annual Institute of Physics School lecture, presented by Dr Melanie Windridge.

Using a plasma ball, fluorescent lighting and a basketball, Dr Windridge explained why nuclear fusion poses one of the greatest scientific and engineering challenges of our age. She explained the challenges that scientists and engineers face, from building materials able to withstand temperatures of more than 100 million ºC to designing robots ready to enter radioactive reactors and undertake any necessary repairs. The lecture was very informative and brought this fascinating topic to life.
