At the close of last term the QM Sport department looked over the year so far at the Annual Senior Sport Awards Dinner.
Players and staff gathered in the Dining Hall for a special Chinese feast and girls paid homage to their sporting heroes (including Andy Murray, Miss Davies and the Mario Brothers) through fancy dress.
It was an evening of laughter and tears as players were awarded for their successes this season, the all-important list of next year’s captains was announced and goodbyes were said to Miss Trumper and Miss Norman who will be leaving QM at the end of the year.

On Friday 23
rd March 21 girls travelled to QM to take part in the school’s very first Junior Lacrosse Day.
On a beautifully sunny day pupils from Brooke Priory School in Rutland joined QM lacrosse coach and former England player, Wendy Reynolds, to learn the ins and outs of this exciting sport.
The aim of the day was to teach the basic skills of the game and participants were invited to watch an exhibition by senior lacrosse players before being joined by QM Year III’s to compete in what was for many, their first ever match.
The girls from Brooke Priory did incredibly well and deserve congratulations for their hard work and the speed at which they picked up these new skills.

QM Win at Woodleigh!

On Thursday 16th June 2011 a group of Year I and Year II QM students travelled to Huntington to compete in the Woodleigh Athletics Competition.
We did really well with personal bests from Harriet and Poppy Kettlewell in the 100m, Elizabeth Hill in the long jump and 200m and Ishbel Lowther in the long jump and 300m whose times broke records for the event. Scarlett Scott broke her personal best in shot put and Millie Holder came first in the 1500m by a long way. QM also won the 4 by 400m relay by fifteen seconds and were only seven seconds from beating the record. Overall it was an amazing afternoon and as a group we finished in first place.Well done everyone!

A Swing and a Hit!

In spite of the grey weather, and extreme down pour at lunch time, Queen Margaret's first Junior Rounders Tournament held on Friday 10th June, was a great success. Eight schools travelled to QM to play rounders in two tournaments. Belmont Grosvenor, Cundall Manor and Terrington Hall took on each other in the Under 9s tournament with Cundall Manor taking first place, Terrington Hall coming in second and Belmont Grosvenor third. In the Under 11s tournament eight schools took part with Queen Margaret's adding a team to make the two pools equal. Girls from Bramcote School, Copmanthorpe Primary School, Cundall Manor School, Dunnington School, Riccall primary School, Selby Abbey School and Terrington School competed against each other. Following some fierce competition Cundall Manor faced Terrington Hall in the final with Terrington Hall claiming victory.
A great day of sporting fun was had by all and many thanks go to the QM Sports Department for organising the event and to all the attending schools' staff for bringing teams. Congratulations to all the girls who took part and we hope to see you at QM for sporting tournaments in the future.
