The competition consists of each house planning, preparing, cooking and serving a two course meal for two people. We were given two and a half hours preparation time knowing that marks would be awarded for overall presentation, the appearances of both courses and the flavour.

Duncan broke for the Easter holidays on a high after winning Soft Song with their performance of David Bowie's classic 'Changes'. Duncan Student Named One of Three Winners in Singing Competition
On Monday 15th November girls took part in the School's Singing Competition. Open to all ages and abilities the competition ran all day and showcased the wealth of musical talent at the School. The judges, Jeremy Bowyer and Dorothy Pomfret were overwhelmed by the high standard of performances and had a very hard time judging the competition. After much deliberation Duncan's Georgia Rose was declared the winner for Middle School.
Round up of 2009-10
So far this year Duncan has put in a great team effort into all areas. The greatest product of our efforts was our house guy, built for bonfire night. The whole house helped make a six foot tall pink flamingo from paper mache and chicken wire. After six pots of pink paint, several feather boas a pair of trainers and a couple of nails later, we had created a free standing if slightly wobbly flamingo. Unfortunately Duncan were pipped by Pitlochry’s chocolate bar. For Fun Song we chose “I need a hero” by Bonnie Tyler, the Upper VI were a spectacle with our inflatable hero costumes including the Hulk, HeMan, Lara Croft and Hercules. Duncan has recently completed the first round of the school quiz, showing the breadth of our general knowledge from icosahedrons to the London underground map.

Congratulations to Pitlochry House crowned Fun Song Champions 2011 last night, October 13th, following their fantastic feline display. The judges loved Pitlochry's dance to the best selling hit of 1974 by the band Mud and with a near clean sweep of 10s on the score board Pitlochry really were the cats that got the cream!

Pitlochry Comes Joint Top in Senior Masterchef!

Unlike the usual Sundays where the Art Block is empty and quiet, this Sunday everything was different. Smoke was coming out from the food technology room – it was time for Senior House Master Chef. Under the guidance and supervision of Miss Rickard, 6 pairs of girls were all aiming for one thing only—to impress the ultimate of judges, Mrs Cameron.
It all started off very cool, as everyone set out, weighed and eventually cooked their ingredients but with 5 minutes to go before the judging there was some very frantic rushing around trying to get all their dishes finished on time.
Thankfully, everyone made it to the end without anything blowing up and the results were delicious, tantalizing all the right taste buds.
Thank you to Miss Rickard for organising the event, Miss Cameron for her brilliant judging and everyone who took part – your food was amazing.

Round up of 2009-2010
Pitlochry has got off to fantastic start to the new school year. We started the first part of the term with many long fun song rehearsals in which everyone worked really hard. By the end I think we were all relieved to show our masterpiece to the rest of the school and show them who are best! We came a brilliant second place with our energetic dance routine to Katy Perry’s “Hot n’ Cold”. It didn’t stop there either, after an extra long half-term Pitlochry came back raring to go, showing off our artistic skills in making the Bonfire Night Guy, a delicious looking Cadburys Dairy Milk Bar. Painted by the talented Yun in UVI, our creation stunned the judges who placed us in first place. It was a weekend for coming first as a day later Saria and Tak impressed Mrs Cameron with their mouth-watering senior master chief dishes and once again Pitlochry topped the leader board and came joint first place. We are also doing well in house sports with our year 4’s winning their swimming competition. Well Done Pitlochry for an amazing start of term, keep it up!

Hall House had had yet another sublime term. This has been the first year in a long, long time, thanks to our exceptionally dance-wise lower sixth, that we have not come last in Funsong but instead a mighty third with our supreme rendition of Dynamit e- GET IN HALL! In September we got 14 new girls on board who have settled in magnificently, getting involved in everything they feel compelled to do in the name of their house… solid members of our team. This year we have had even more assistance from our legendary house co-ordinator Mr. Giles who we are very grateful to for so much enthusiasm and help. House meetings are pretty different from last year and last a lot longer and Hall have done a great job in being really inclusive of everyone, eating plenty of sweets- practically inhaling them, to keep up our crucial energy levels and showcasing our special talents! Well done Amelia and Eugenie who expertly won over Miss Rickard and the judges in Senior Masterchef to come third. Now for a well deserved Christmas break… We’ll be back.

St Aidan's House Dinner: A Smashing Success!
On Friday 4th May the whole of St Aidan’s house got together to celebrate ‘Living Life to the Full’. Having heard great things about the other Houses’ suppers, we were looking forward to the good food and the opportunity to integrate. Mr Payton and the house captains had clearly put a lot of effort into the decoration; the library was full of yellow balloons, and wine glasses of colourful sweets decorated the tables. Everyone made an effort to come dressed in their brightest clothes, and the colour clashes reflected the evening’s exciting atmosphere.
After a delicious four-course meal, we were given an inspirational talk by guest speaker Lara Fawcett. She gave us advice on how to live life to the full, telling us funny anecdotes from her teenage years and playing songs which have particularly inspired her throughout her life. Our favourite was Baz Lurhman’s ‘Everyone’s Free to Wear Sunscreen’, which encouraged us to never worry about what other people think about you, and to make the most of what you have. Her speech was extremely touching and perfectly adapted to the mixed ages of our audience, and we would like to thank her for inspiring us all.
We then enjoyed ourselves playing an after-dinner game called ‘Suits’, which basically involves running around the table and sitting on top of other people. It was a perfect game for encouraging integration, and we all got to know each other a bit better!
Overall it was a really enjoyable evening, and we would all like to thank Lara Fawcett, Mr Payton, the kitchen staff and the St Aidan’s House Captains (Teresa Leeming and Phoebe Williams-Ellis) for organising such a successful night.

Round up of 2009-10
We started the term with our customary brilliance, winning the quiz with a top-notch display of general knowledge. However, then came Fun Song … We was robbed! We are only just coming to terms with the disappointment of missing out on first place after so many years of victory! We thought we were the sharpest tools in the box with our unique version of Usher’s “DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again”. Not to be downhearted, we bounced back with victory in the House Masterchef competition – well done to Eliza Plowden and Twig Leeming for cooking up a delicious pie and pavlova to wow the judge. Our guy for the Bonfire Night – “The Cheese and the Mice” - was a fantastic work of art, and again we can’t believe we didn’t win … Thanks to everyone in the house for all your contribution and support.Report by Tash and Tickle (Natasha Norman and Alexandra Banks)

School Win Inter-House Junior Netball Competition
On Saturday 11th February, Year I and II had their inter-house netball competition. Each house had a team consisting of Year I and II girls (and a few teachers in some cases!) The competition was a Round Robin with the house winning the most games, being the eventual champions. Due to the illness in Year I and circumstances which were beyond our control, Garry House only managed to have a team of five players, and when Scarlett Scott hurt her ankle, a team of four players! This, however did not last long as Miss Davies and Mrs Trumper joined in for a game each. All houses won or drew at least one match, which made the competition very exciting. Although every house played superbly, there was a clear winner all the way through the matches; School House were unbeaten throughout the whole afternoon. Report by Felicity Edwards (Year I)
School House Come Second in Senior Masterchef

Congratulations to Eritrea and Fleur who cooked their way into second place representing School House in yesterday's Senior Masterchef competition. Their Italian inspired menu of Lasagne followed by a sumptous lemon mousse (served in lemons) impressed the judge, Mrs Stanglewicz, and earned them second place to winners St Aidan's.
School House Annual Dinner

School House kicked of the first ever annual house supper, while celebrating our fantastic house we also celebrated Miss Leadley’s Birthday. We were very privileged to be joined by Paul Hall, one of the Olympic gymnastics coaches. In his and the Olympics honour, the whole house was dressed in either blue, yellow, black, green or red (the colours of the Olympic rings) and the library was beautifully decorated Olympic style. The evening began with a cocktail of fruit juices, nibbles and an Olympic quiz. A delicious meal followed, with a huge slice of chocolate fudge cake, an Olympic record in itself, to finish. Paul Hall concluded the evening with a very insightful talk about his job and how a gymnast reaches an Olympic standard. I know I was certainly amazed at the determination and ambition which the Olympic gymnasts must have to put in the many, many hours of training to form one perfect routine. Those hundreds of hours of training then go into a few minutes, in which you must perform, with the added pressure of the thousands of pairs of eyes watching ever present in your mind. Although none of School House will be entering as gymnasts themselves we will all certainly be looking forward to the Olympics feeling a personal link to those competitors who we heard so much about. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the evening so memorable.

Chosen by judge, Mrs Carole Cameron, the dessert gained School 4th place, with St. Aidan's and Pitlochry pipping the other houses to the winning spot. Miranda Wallace and Louisa Willoughby created the chocolatey dessert that followed a main course of marinated beef kebabs with homemade chips and green salad also thought up and cooked by the girls.
Round up of 2009-10
School House has had a busy first term with the first half dominated by Funsong. The whole house contributed to preparations, the LVI did a great job choreographing the dance, and everyone stencilled their own t-shirts during the house Sunday between rehearsals.
After half term our Friday evening was concentrated on Bonfire night preparing our houses six pumpkins between forty people, whilst the 1st years helped out making our house guy involving a huge quantity of green paint and two hair driers to dry the final product. Well done to everyone for the effort they have put in; we have led the house points throughout the term and look forward to more success in house events next term!
